Road trip to Devon 2013

For Mummy's birthday in 2013 we decided to take a road tri to Devon so she could spend the actual day at Gidleigh Park - best place in the world!
Off we went, with me and Mr Strong in our usual places...

First stop was one night in Taunton to break the trip.  The B&B was fine, but there were a few issues that meant it wasn't quite to the standards of me and Mr Strong...

The next day we drove over Dartmoor to get to Chagford where we were staying.  We had to take a quick stop for Hamish to say hello to some distant relatives...

So one night at the Crown Inn in Chagford.  We like Chagford.  Stayed in a cute little room, and enjoyed a walk around the village as well.

Me and Mr Strong slept well that night on the windowsill

Next stop for Mummy's actual birthday was a night just down the road at Gidleigh Park.  We love Gidleigh Park.  The room is really, comfortable, we got to play some tennis, and the next morning enjoyed tea on the deck to our room before going to breakfast.

Next stop was the Old Rectory Hotel in Exmoor near Martinhoe.

This was a really lovely place to stay, although me and Mr Strong did stay in the room during the day, and the housekeeping ladies liked to arrange us in different tableaus whilst Mummy and Daddy were out.
One day we were hiding behind the pillows with snacks, another day reading Decanter magazine

Next stop was Clovelly where we stayed in the Red Lion Inn.  Mummy decided to book the best room, so we were overhanging the ocean with lovely views all day.  You couldn't drag me and Mr Strong away from the window...

We liked the Old Rectory so much we went back later that year and stayed in a different room. It was nice to see the housekeepers again ;-)
